Coils, slabs, plates and pipe — handling, transfer, processing and testing for steel mills and pipe plants. Handling capacities to 150 ton, and to 250 ton on custom builds.
Lifting, transfer, processing and testing—all from one supplier.
We make crane-attached handling devices (C hooks, coil grabs, tilters, slab tongs), floor transfer systems (trolleys, coil cars), processing equipment (levelers, shears, presses, uncoilers), and testing machines (DWTT, bending and folding). They are used in steel mills and pipe plants to move, process and qualify material reliably.
Since 1992 we have been building this equipment for customers in India and overseas. Capacities and configurations are tailored to each site—from single units to complete lines.
Everything on this page is built to order at our Pithampur works near Indore and delivered by road to plants across India. Our own engineers erect and commission the equipment on your site and train the people who will run it, foundation and utility drawings go out ahead of despatch so your civil work is ready, and wear parts and spares are held at Indore rather than imported. Equipment is fabricated to the relevant IS standards, and prices are quoted in Indian rupees ex-works Pithampur with GST invoiced separately.

| Machine | Capacity | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Testing Equipment | ||
| Drop Weight Tear Tester (DWTT) | 20,000J to 120,000J | The Drop Weight Tear Tester measures how well a ferritic steel resists brittle fracture propagation. |
| Bending & Folding Machine | To suit plate size | A testing machine rather than a fabrication one. |
| Handling Equipment | ||
| C Hook | Up to 70 ton | C Hooks lift steel coils horizontally by entering the bore and taking the load on the inner diameter. |
| Coil Tong | Up to 45 ton | Coil tongs grip a coil by its outer diameter, so nothing has to enter the bore. |
| Coil Tilter | Up to 45 ton | Coil tilters turn a coil between eye-up and eye-out so the next operation can reach it. |
| Container Loading C Hook | Set by container payload, typically 5-30 ton | A container loading C hook is built around the one dimension that decides whether container stuffing works: the door opening. |
| 180 Degree Mechanical Plate Tilter | Built to your plate length, width and thickness range | A 180 degree plate tilter turns a steel plate completely over. |
| Coil Grab | Up to 45 ton | Coil grabs lift steel, aluminum and wire coils by clamping the outside or the inside diameter. |
| Aerial Coil Tilter | Up to 40 ton | Aerial coil tilters hang from an overhead crane and turn a coil between eye-up and eye-out in the air, so the operation needs no floor-standing tilter and no floor space of its own. |
| Slab Tong | 10 to 45 ton | Slab tongs lift steel slabs by clamping their sides, taking them flat or on edge. |
| Hydraulic Scissor Lift | 200 kg to 10 ton | Hydraulic scissor lifts raise personnel and materials on a stable, controlled vertical movement, folding flat when down so the platform sits close to the floor at the load point. |
| Turnstile | Up to 70 ton | Turnstiles are rotating platforms that bring any face of a load round to the operator without it being re-slung or lifted. |
| Material Transfer Equipment | ||
| Motorised Trolley | 1 to 150 ton | Motorised trolleys move coils and heavy loads under their own electric drive, along a fixed route within a bay or between bays. |
| Battery Operated Material Transfer Trolley | 1 to 150 ton | A battery operated transfer trolley carries coils, slabs, dies and general plant loads with no trailing cable and no fixed power rail. |
| DG Powered Material Transfer Trolley | 1 to 150 ton | A DG powered transfer trolley carries its own diesel generator set, so it needs no trailing cable, no busbar and no charging window. |
| Pillar Type Coil Car | Up to 150 ton | Pillar-type coil cars lift and carry in one machine: the coil is raised on the pillar-mounted lift rather than placed on the deck by a crane, so the car can take it off the line and run it straight to store. |
| Scissor Type Trolley | Up to 35 ton | Scissor type trolleys carry a load and raise it on the same machine, so material can be brought to working height without a second lift. |
| Trolley with Tilter | Customizable | A trolley with tilter carries the load and tips it on the same machine, so a coil or a bin can be presented at an angle where it lands instead of being moved on to a separate tilter. |
| Slag Pot / Ladle Trolley | 10 to 150 ton (30 ton SWL unit shown) | Slag pot and ladle trolleys are rail-mounted transfer machines that move slag pots, hot metal ladles, and teeming ladles between the furnace, the casting bay, and the slag yard. |
| Processing Equipment | ||
| Plate Leveler | Up to 7,600 ton | Plate levelers take the flatness defects and the locked-in stresses out of plate and sheet by bending it alternately over a series of rolls, so it comes out flat and stays flat once it is cut. |
| Hydraulic Shear Machine | — | Hydraulic shear machines cut plate and sheet to length with a clean, burr-free edge, holding the same force through the cut whatever the thickness. |
| Hydraulic Press | Up to 200 ton | Hydraulic presses apply controlled force for bending, punching, forming and cutting. |
| Hydraulic Baling Press | 100 to 400 ton | Hydraulic baling presses compress loose scrap. |
| Uncoiler/Recoiler | — | Uncoilers pay a coil off into a processing line and recoilers wind the finished strip back up, at matched speed so the strip between them is never slack nor over-tensioned. |
| Pipe Plant Equipment | ||
| Pipe Rotator | Up to 100 ton | Pipe rotators turn a pipe under a fixed welding head, so a circumferential weld can be laid in one continuous pass instead of the welder walking round the joint. |
| Pipe Lifting Tackle | 100 kg to 30 ton | Pipe lifting tackle takes a pipe by its body rather than through the ends, spreading the load so the wall is not deformed by the lift. |
| Tube Finning Equipment | ||
| Fin Tube Machine | — | Our fin tube machines produce spirally crimped finned tube: fin strip is wound around the base tube under tension and crimped into interlocking ridges, bonding fin to tube mechanically with no welding. |
| Fin Tubes | — | We manufacture spirally crimped fin tubes, where the fin is bonded to the tube mechanically rather than welded. |
Pragya manufactures steel handling equipment with capacities from 5 ton up to 250 ton. Crane attachments such as coil grabs and coil tilters handle up to 45 ton; C hooks and turnstiles handle up to 70 ton; and custom heavy-duty configurations can be engineered to 250 ton per client specification.
Yes. Our crane-attachable devices—C hooks, coil grabs, aerial coil tilters, slab tongs—are engineered for EOT (Electric Overhead Travelling) cranes, deck cranes, and harbor cranes. Each device is matched to the crane's hook rating and working load limit.
Yes. Every steel handling machine is custom-manufactured to the client's specific coil or load dimensions, capacity, crane type, and operational environment. We work from customer layout drawings through manufacturing, proof load testing, and dispatch.
Our steel handling equipment is manufactured to applicable standards including ASME B30.20 for below-the-hook lifting devices. Proof load test certificates and third-party inspection are available on request.
